Dutch Detour
When you think of the Netherlands, you think of windmills, flowers,
wooden clogs, water and of course
cycling. It's probably the only country in the world where
there are more bicycles than inhabitants. The country has an extensive
network of beautiful cycle paths, from the busiest cities to the
smallest idyllic villages.
This challenging hotel tour is planned in
spring 2019 when the Netherlands
shows its best side with the colourful flower fields, gorgeous
blossoms and a myriad of fresh green colours.
Why would you cycle directly from A to B if there is a much better
detour? We would like to welcome you in our own cycling country, the
Netherlands.

The book "Sleep
Well Isabel" with subtitle "Bedtime Stories
from Africa" describes the adventures and experiences of
one of our bicycle expeditions in Africa. One of the
founders of Bike-Dreams, Wilbert Bonné, writes in 42 letters
to his five-month-old little daughter his thoughts and
feelings from the bicycle in the deep heart of
East-Africa ( Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda ).
It's possible to

The Great Divide 2018
We have decided to run The Great Divide again in 2018.
The main changes compared to 2017 :
•
3 days longer, which makes a total of 52 days

•
This means that 2 long stages have been splitted
into 4 shorter stages and we
have added 1 extra rest
day in Salida, which is one of
the nicest town along the
route and gives you the
possibility to cycle the Monarch
Crest Trail, one of most
popular biking trails in Colorado.
•
17 motels during the tour (instead of 8 motels in 2017).

Great tours with wonderful memories
We left more than 3 months ago to the south of Europe (Sicily) and we
returned one week ago from the most northern point of Europe. In
between we had two memorable tours with great participants. Good cyclists, but maybe
more important : just lovely people.
We have been through thousands and thousands of photos. After
selecting, cropping, organizing and burning, the DVD's are sent to the
participants.
The people which were not on the tour, you can get an impression at
the website. The slideshows of
La Bella Italia and
Going North Cape are now available.

Exploration "La Vuelta Ibérica".
After a 15-days roadtrip ( by car ) through Spain and
Portugal we have made the following changes to the route :
• An extra stage to Montserrat; we will sleep in the hotel
of the old
monestary.
• An extra stage in the Picos de Europa.
• We do not stay in the centre Lisboa, but in Santarem
which is an
hour by train from the centre of Lisboa (it
avoids a lot of busy
roads around the capital).
• One stage less between Porto and Santarem/Lisboa.
• A stage finish in Évora in the south of Portgual; one of
the many
Unesco World Heritage sites along the route.
• One stage between Sevilla and Córdoba (instead of
two). We follow
flat quiet roads along orange orchards in
the basin of the Rio
Guadalquivir.
• An extra rest day in Córdoba.
• Some planned hotels have been changed into campsites,
and campsites
into hotels. In total 13 hotel nights
(instead of 11).
• The tour is 2 days longer as initially planned. |

The finish in Ushuaia
The 5th edition of The Andes Trail finished today in
Ushuaia after 11.000 fascinating kilometer.
The riders from 11 different countries had to overcome extreme
circumstances. The bicycle expedition doesn’t follow everywhere well
paved roads, but the trail varies from rough sandy tracks to
riverbeds, and from old railroads to salt lakes. The high Andes
passes, the thin air and the Patagonian wind makes “The Andes Trail”
to one of the most challenging bicycle expeditions.
A big chapeau for all participants.
They were all heroes. |

How far can you go?
If you travel to the East, you end up in the land of the rising sun,
Japan. If you go to the West, you arrive at the sandy beaches in
California. If your destination is the South, you reach the Land of
Fire in Patagonia. But if you go to the North, you need to go to
North Cape.
It took a bit longer than initally planned, but all details of
Going North Cape are now available at the
website.
You will cycle continuously between
the mountains and the water on your way to the North Cape. Perhaps it
is our most beautiful
bicycle expedition. We will see...
More than one year to go... |
