Bike-Dreams : The Andes Trail

The Andes Trail

Tour Info

The Tour

Each participant can cycle the stages at his/her own pace. You can choose to cover the distance in a relaxed way with photo stops at every chosen moment, or a well deserved break on a terrace.
We don't do timekeeping like in the first five editions.

Everyone gets daily a detailed description and map of the stage. Next to that we provide GPS-tracks, so that navigation gets easier.

Support

The journey is supported by two vehicles. One vehicle brings the luggage and kitchen equipment to the next place, so you don't have to carry luggage on your bike. The other vehicle gives support on the road and provides a lunch half way the stage.

The cyclists who are not able to ride, or cannot finish the stage, have always the possibility to take a seat in one of the support vehicles. We will take care that everyone arrives at the finish location before the evening.

The journey is supported by a nurse and a mechanic for the physical inconveniences to yourself and your bike.

Food

We provide on cycling days an extensive breakfast ( bread, cereals, fruit ) and halfway the stage a tasty lunch is waiting for you. In addition, we will take care that you can recover with an extra meal ( soup, bread, fruit ) after finishing the stage and that you always have sufficient water and sport drinks.
The cook of Bike-Dreams prepares in campsites a delicious dinner full of vegetables, proteins and carbohydrates.

During the rest days and if we stay in a hotel you have the opportunity to explore and sample the local cuisine.

Accommodation

During the first half of the tour - in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia - the accommodations are mainly hotels with also several bush camps at high altitude.

The second part of the tour - in Argentina and Chile - you stay mostly at a campsite or a temporary camp along the road.

You will stay in total minimal 60 nights in a hotel accommodation.

Participants

The number of participants is limited due to organizational reasons. For people from all over the world it is possible to sign up for the tour.

"The Andes Trail" is open for men and women with an age between 18 and 65. A good health, passion for cycling and an adventurous and flexible mindset are necessary to finish the expedition in a normal way. Keep in mind that in the past only a few succeed to cycle the total distance between Quito and Ushuaia; they need a strong constitution, mental toughness and certainly no set back.

Non-Cyclists

It is an option to join as non-cycling participant, which means that you can take a seat in one of the support vehicles. You make the same journey as the cycling participant, it's only not on the bike.

You can help the other crew with shopping, prepare the lunch halfway or help in the kitchen; but first of all : you must enjoy the journey. We will not asked you to help. It's all up to yourself if you want to help. We prefer that all participants ( and especially the non-cyclists ) visit the local towns and villages where we stay, in stead of chopping carrots.

The registration and Entry Fee is similar as for cyclists.
